Thanks a lot. I got it installed and working (the Lua plugin and your script). Still could not figure out what PlayOn chokes on. I wish there were a way to spit it out some debug info, things it doesn't like.

I saved the file from the web using flvstreamer and using the localfiles plugin can play it back,

So it's back to the handshake. Maybe the two just can't talk to each other...

I've had this issue with several sites A&E, Speed TV and Bio.  All of these have a parameter value after the media name.  Numerious other rtmp files work without issue when just the media is passed without params.  This might be a good one to post on the Playon.tv forums.

I'll give it a shot. Looks like the only possibility left. Maybe there is some magic parameter for their internal decoder.

Ok,

I looked at what PlayOn has to say and it establishes the connection fine but eventually doesn't understand the stream info embedded in the stream. I sort of can tell what they are doing under the covers and did the same here with some code I compiled and it works fine. I believe what they are using needs a more recent version. Anyhow, I sent them a ton of doc and pointed out what is wrong, not sure they will respond. But I think I have taken this about as far as it gets.

rernst,

Thanks for digging into this mess.  We'll get it eventually, even if we need to wait for the update to the api.

I'd just like to give a quick update to those folks that have been waiting for this Playon plugin. I have had some exchange with the Mediamall folks and sent some doc and they were kind enough to have a look at the log, etc. It appears that the Playon parser has a problem reading the stream info properly from the ARD streams. There is really nothing I can do about it at present.

Mediamall is working on a new and improved version of the API which will give API authors a lot more control over the rendering of the streams which will solve this issue once and for all. I am afraid ARD Mediathek's fans will have to wait a little until then.

I will release a plugin then.

I might look at a couple of other requests I have received until then, such as Deutsche Welle.
