Go to
[Link Removed] You are not allowed to view links. Please login or register
Register or Login
www.reeplay.it
and register to their site.

Once logged in click the "SETTINGS" button on the top of the page.

Now click the "BOOKMARKLET" button and download it for the appropriate browser you will be using

Once this is done go to a website that you frequent and want to be able to watch videos from on your PlayOn compliant device.

Start playing the video, now if you look to the right of your URL bar there should be a red play arrow button, click this.

Once you've clicked this a new window will open and the tool will scrape the site for direct video URL's, once done it will ask you where you want to save the video's under your account and what you would like to name them. You can also tell it whether you want to share it with your contacts or not.

Once the information is filled in just click save. It will take a little while for reeplay.it to save the video to your account but once done go to the folder under your account that you have saved it to and to the right you will see an RSS button.

Right click this button and click "Copy Link Location"

Once the feed is copied after the "HTTP://" portion of the url add in the following "USERNAME:PASSWORD@"

The following link in the opml file should look like this.

<outline text="NAMEOFYOURFEED" xmlUrl="
[Link Removed] You are not allowed to view links. Please login or register
Register or Login"/>

As far as I know the feed will not show up until reeplay.it is done "Processing the video" So, once the video's stop showing this text across them then you should be able to access them.

After that sit back and have fun watching your favorite vids over playon.

*Note* - If needed i'll add screenshots if users are at all confused or don't understand exactly what i'm talking about in this guide.

Nice guide! Captured a youTube video with the bookmark app yesterday and watched it on tv. Too Cool.

I've been toying with this for hours... and found it to be one hell of a tool.

Interesting.  I've used this on many different sites over the last two weeks, but I've never captured a commercial.  Which site are you scraping?

Reeplay.it won't be able to get EVERY video on the net. But it does scrape a relatively large number of websites that host videos. I know that synflux was working on some sort of a list of websites he was able to use the tool on.

I tried several videos @ both sites:

Both sites appear to use a flash player that doesn't appear to be compatible with Reeplay.it, so I'm not sure how you've managed to get a commercial from either site.  In my experience, it either works or doesn't.
Just to be sure we're on the same page here, you installed and you're using the Reeplay.it bookmarklet found on the Settings page, right?
Links are below for the bookmarklet installer:

Hello. I work for reeplay.it
thanks for your comments.

There are now three different ways how plugins operate: the bookmarklet, the IE plugin and the firefox plugin. They use different technical logics.
There are so many sites out there we cannot be aware of so, just looking at how users actually use it we can find out which of the three technical apparoaches give a best overall result.

Actually the present plugins/bookmarklet are more a proof of concept than an actual product.
We plan to release soon APIs to plugins developers so they can add reeplay.it support to their plugins.
If you are interested, just drop us an email.

Our blog is less updated than we may wish to, but eventually, announcements will be posted there blog.reeplay.it

@gc99

Probably the reason why you're getting this is because the video initially starts with an ad then goes to the video then has ads here and there throughout the show. Well how this works is the video is broken into pieces and the ads works as fillers to connect those pieces of video together. Thats why when you visit hulu for instance and you see the dots where ever ad is. That's where the video is broken into segments and those dots represent the ads that are stitching the whole thing together. You're capturing just the commericals (ads) because reeplay.it only see's videos that are in their entirety. AFAIK if a video is broken into segments with ads then it won't see it because it doesn't know how to handle it.

Welcome quinta.
A few of us here are enjoying Reeplay.it extensively, and feeding it through the Podcast plugin/PlayOn via custom opml's.  It's great to have this ability, which essentially provides easy viewing (and custom playlists) of many feeds which are otherwise unreachable through other methods.
What's the scoop on the business model? Is a paid structure inevitable?

I'm sure quinta can fill in more details but last I heard it would be tiered and there would still be a free version but it would have a limited amount of space that you could use. I hope that the free version at least will have a sizable plan such as maybe 5gb but I guess we'll find out when either quinta chimes in or something is officially said on their site about it. But by the way he made it sound with the "proof of concept" portion of his post it may be a few months further down the road.

hi

the present plugins (not the bookmarklet) work by detecting the video file that is currently playing.

yes, you're right. a paid structure is inevitable.
the way how we plan to introduce payments is by putting rate limits, e.g. limits to the amount of stuff you can save each week.

as you may have noticed, we have some problems right now with the generation of RSS feeds which occasionally time out.
we plan a new release soon that will address this issue.

BTW, if you go to

with some devices, we detect the browsers and supply specialized clients (for example with iphones/ipod touch)

there are two options for iphones: one is syncing the RSS feed with iTunes and the other is use the web client over a wifi connection.

we were thinking of building a specialized client for the iphone but unfortunately the iPhone is closed so we had to choose to allow for syncing the RSS feed with itunes to the phone or to build a client with separated wireless syncing to be able to implement nice features such as playback pause&resume across different devices (watch a portion of a video on your iphone and finish it on the TV). we thought that syncing is more valueable so, if (and when) apple will allow us to know when you stop playing a video in the itunes sandbox, this feature will not be available.

there are many more things to come; we're working hard on some STBs. stay tuned...

Quinta,

As the developer of the "PodCasts" plugin, there is 1 thing you can help me with to make the experience better for our Reeplay.it users. Please include the "duration" value in your RSS feed xml. Cheesy

It does not matter how you want to include it either. The PodCasts plugin will find it. Currently, without the duration value, I have to hard code a default duration time for videos from your site in order to make the stream capable for viewing on the XBox360.

Welcome to the group!

Thanks for the link,

I tried it out yesterday and it worked great! I tried it again today and the Playon Podcast folder keeps telling me to reboot this device which is the first time I have had this message. I went into my reeplay.it library and few of the videos I downloaded today were still being added (there but not playable), so maybe that is the reason the podcast folder will not load.
